Mentors For Fatherless Children and Abused Families (MFCAF) emerged from a compassionate initiative founded by Leo Robinson and Samara Jules-Robinson in December 2021 in East Orlando, FL. Operating as a registered 501(C)(3) nonprofit, our commitment to making a positive impact on the community has been unwavering. Despite initial budget limitations, we became a beacon of hope by self-funding events and services. Over the last two years, we have prioritized three impactful programs—Career Path Mentoring, Family Support Mentoring, and Sports and Music Mentoring—dedicated to uplifting, educating, and motivating individuals with principles of peace, love, and unity.
Having successfully served over 250 families and community members, MFCAF has contributed to the reduction of crime rates, domestic violence, and bullying in the community. Recognizing the increased demand for our services, particularly during the economic challenges posed by the pandemic, we have strategic plans to develop or relocate to a new facility. This move aims to centralize our operations for a more impactful presence, collaborating with local authorities, schools, churches, and playgrounds to enhance our reach and support.
Confident in securing funding for a permanent home, we remain driven by personal experiences and committed to our mission. Despite challenges, Mentors for Fatherless Children aspires to be a lasting beacon of hope, fostering positive change and empowerment in our community. We are actively seeking sponsors who believe in our mission and the impact we can make. With your support, we can continue uplifting and transforming the lives of fatherless children and abused families, creating a brighter future for those who need it most. Consider becoming a partner in our journey towards positive change—your support will make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.
As we trace our roots, Mentors For Fatherless Children and Abused Families (MFCAF) originated in East Orlando, where founders Leo Robinson and Samara Jules-Robinson opened their home to at-risk teens, establishing the Intervention Home. This visionary model, now poised for replication in Orange County neighborhoods, showcases our dedication to fostering transformative change.
In the heart of East Orlando, the Intervention Home is a safe haven for at-risk teens, embodying our commitment to creating secure spaces. The Downtown Center, MFCAF's main resource hub, reflects our holistic approach, providing facilities for community engagement, physical well-being, resource rooms, and crisis intervention.
Expanding our reach, MFCAF collaborates with Voices of Influence (VOI) during VOI events, offering mentorship, career guidance, crisis intervention, and educational initiatives. This collaborative effort, rooted in our history, breaks cycles of adversity, fostering resilience and lasting positive change.
MFCAF's Innovation Programming, including the Tech Hub and Entrepreneurship Mentorship Program, showcases our adaptability and forward-thinking. Initiatives like the Community Impact Challenge and the Tech for Social Change Symposium highlight our commitment to holistic development and community engagement.
In summary, MFCAF's history is marked by compassion, adaptability, and a commitment to empowering individuals and communities. From humble beginnings to the Intervention Home and the Downtown Center, our journey breaks cycles of adversity and builds resiliency. We remain dedicated to creating positive change and building strength in the lives we serve.
At our Intervention Home and Center, we are dedicated to establishing a nurturing environment for children and families. Within our facility, we offer a Release Room, mentoring sessions, and holistic activities designed to provide stress relief and essential information to address crises. Our primary focus is on supporting at-risk youth aged 13 to 18 who lack a positive male father-figure or role model in their lives, especially considering the alarming statistic of 17.8 million children growing up without their fathers in American homes in 2023.
This unfortunate reality contributes to a heightened prevalence of abuse, leaving many young men struggling to find guidance on their journey to authentic manhood through unconventional sources like social media, TV, movies, or the internet. Our organization is steadfast in its commitment to breaking the cycle of fatherlessness by making a profound impact on the lives of boys growing up without stable family structures.
Our dedicated mentors engage in ongoing daily relational mentoring, conducting weekly meetings encompassing various activities such as park visits, counseling sessions, movies, events, sports, dining out, field trips, academic support, and career planning. By providing a safe space for open discussions, these meetings foster trust, enabling our mentors to encourage, affirm, coach, and boost the confidence of at-risk youth and families facing abuse.
To sustain and expand these impactful activities and services, we invite your support and involvement. Your contribution will play a crucial role in helping us realize our vision of providing guidance, mentorship, and a safe haven for those who need it most. Together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of these individuals and work towards breaking the cycle of fatherlessness in our society.
